((LOL I said I wasn't going to post this but it's getting longer -- ))

"Everyone was suppose to be innoculated before we left the ship so we'll be
fine for a while even if radiation gets through. Mister Reed, Security will
be out the door first." Cait sat with her eyes closed still.

Justin looked back at Cait "I'm not piloting this shuttle, and it is a very
smooth ride.. why are you so tense? Problem with confined spaces Doc?"

"Like I told Kat, Justin, I'm just ducky. Quack...quack.." Cait opened her
eyes enough to roll them at Justin. "See?"

Marcus chuckled while awaiting the craft to land. He felt a little like a
child asking "Are we there yet" only the destination was probably no where
near as comforting as it would have been if he were a child. Then he thought
about all the children that were likely at their destination and he gritted
his teeth together and then spoke up, "You know, we have a chance to save a
great many lives on this mission. I'm glad I'm on your team, this is what
it's all about."

The shuttle rocked a little bit, jolting everybody. Matthew was using his
visuals more than anything, something he excelled at in the academy. "Just
hit a little bit of radiation turbulence," Matt said, "hang on everyone,
we're landing." As the shuttle slowly descended upon the ground, everyone
inside had their EVA Suits on and tightly sealed. The team could feel a
little motion as the shuttle finally was on the ground. "Alright, we're
here" he said as he spun around in his chair to face the group.

Saladin held his stomach together at the slight rocking and looked across at
Cait, wondering how it would affect his friend, "Alright Cait, your the most
qualified on radiation procedure, you want to lead us out?"

Nick was up the moment the shuttle had touched down, releasing his straps,
the rest of his team followed suit, and were out the door. Weapons ready,
scanning over the terrain for the moment to secure the perimeter, staying,
for the moment, within the shields of the shuttle. A couple of the security
crewmen would be scanning the surrounding area for any signs of life. While
the rest, Nick included, were scanning the area over the sights of their
weapons. Only once he was satisfied, and that there was no other danger
aside from the immediate radiation, he'd give the 'perimeter secure' call
back to Cait for her next order.

Justin took his time getting out of his seat, and instead of stepping off
the shuttle, went to the cargo area and started unpacking the fusion
reactor.

"We don't leave till security gives us the all clear." Cait did get herself
unbuckled.

Juard got up and when to get his med kit. He decided to take it with him
just in case.

Kat moved slowly from her seat moving not far from Cait keeping the pixie
like doc in sight and awaiting further orders. she'd glanced to the other
doc aboard having not really paid much attention before til she saw him
reach for a med kit. She double checked her gear then grabbed her own med
kit. "I'm doctor Kat Wilkinson and you are?" she said turning to Juard
before moving to exit the shuttle with everyone else.

"Doctor Juard. I am new on the ship." Juard replied.

Justin looked up at the others "The shuttles shields will extend to one half
kilometer in diameter once I have this up and running. Should take about 10
minutes." He was hooking the reactor's power output directly into the leads
coming off the warp core.

Cait headed for the door and looked over at Marcus. "Shall we?" She stepped
out, looking towards where the caves were. "Kat, Juard...Let's go take a
look at what we're dealing with, then we can decide how to set up. Mister
Takis, can you please get us some radiation readings. I need to know what
the levels are now." With that, the little doctor headed for the caves where
people were still filing in.

Marcus nodded to Cait and made his way out with them.

Kat gave Cait a quick nod glancing to Juard. "welcome to chaos" she said
with a smile gathering her thoughts and beginning to follow the pixie doc. "you
heard the lady let's get a move on and see what we're dealing with." she added.

"Alright. Thanks for welcoming me to the chaos."Juard said with a warm smile on
his face.

Kat followed along remembering the last away mission involving caves. 'lovely
caves to explore' she muttered to herself. Understanding that this time was
going to be much less entertaining. She sighed at that thought and kept moving.
"So Juard what's your specialty?" she asked. Talking shop helped keep her mind
off other things still needing to be dealt with. She looked around glancing
briefly at Nick and to the other members of security realizing Azten was
missing.

- Hide quoted text -

- Hide quoted text -

Takis exited after most of the others. He carried more than enough equipment on
his back, so he just waited around while the others unloaded, helping lift the
heavier items when he could. He was always glad when his size was a benefit
rather than a liability. He easily avoided getting in the officers' way, a
talent most any crewman developed early on. Not only did officers rush around
too much, but they tended to give you assignments on-the-fly if you crossed
their paths, and not usually pleasant ones. He smiled from behind his
faceplate, eager to get started exploring this rock.

Right on schedule there was a loud hum as the fusion reactor started up and the
shields extended their range. "Lox to away team." He used his comm. since he
didn't know where everyone was. "Shield system is operational. The shield will
allow us indefinite usage of the surface without having to worry about
radiation."

"Thank you Lox." Marcus looked around him, noting the haze and dreariness.
"Alright,
while Takis scans for radiation security keep scanning for life signs and an
entrance to the rocks. "Cho'lu is inside, but anything other than short range
communication still seems hampered. Lox can you work on opening a full working
communication channel with the Vimyridge?"

"Not a problem." Replied Justin as he climbed back inside the shuttle to set up
a relay system for communications.

<<TBC>>
