Vilqa sucked in her inner lip before giving both Marcus and Toby a
distinctly familiar stare, "I am not going to win this battle am I?" She
almost cursed by her intonation itself.

Marcus looked silently at Toby and then back at the captain with a slight
shake of the head.

"Sorry Captain, gone are the days when you could intimidate me into
relenting with a look." Toby smiled his most charming smile, "The only way
you can win it, is proving to me that the only danger is natural and that
you won't be at risk from an outside source."

Kylee arched her brow at the mention of the captain leaving the ship, and
Toby's subsequent statement. "Wouldn't it be wise to wait for the results
from the asteroid field? If there is a ship hiding there, might it not give
us the answer we need, without risking going to a possible hostile planet,
especially since they see our influence as an intrustion already?" she
asked, looking between those there. "Though, if there is an away team sent,
I would like to be included.."

The Captain shifted as all eyes were on her, she knew she had no statements
to make against Toby's warning. "I cannot allow a shuttle to go on it's
own." She then said simply, "It's just far too dangerous to do. We will need
to swing the Ridge to the far side of this planet before we can allow a team
to go down."

Justin's PADD beeped to get his attention "Detailed data coming in now about
the asteroid field.. there are several mining camps in the field, 9 cargo
haulers currently in operation, 2 more.. sitting on the ground, possibly
being repaired.. and weapons discharge residue. Ship to ship weapons. " He
tapped in some more commands "One of those on the ground.. had recently
fired it's weapons, and was on the receiving end of fire as well. Main hull
is compromised. No wonder it is just sitting there. Ion trail leads away
from the asteroid field.. towards the planitary orbits of the inner planets.
It was leaking plasma coolant... not a lot, but enough
to trace." He walked over to the screen and brought it up.

"Trajectory would bring it into the position we saw... it would take a week.
IF they lost enough coolant, or had too much damage, they would have,
probably, followed standard procedure and ejected the crew module and used
it to get to the nearest planet they could.... based on the ion trail, that
would be the currently unaffected planet." Justin added.

Nick had been about to protest himself, but closed his mouth when everyone
else seemed to as well. "I have no problem going to the surface," he told
her simply, once that was cleared out. His tone, however, made it known he
would dispute her going planetside himself.

- Hide quoted text -

- Hide quoted text -

Marcus listened to the new data as it was presented by Lox. "So, it seems
there would be two steps. First, a nice visit to these cargo haulers and
mines, but I would still presume it would need a follow up visit or
communication to the other planet."

Kylee looked between everyone, her eyes narrowing as it seemed that the
others wanted to work on this on their own. "Apparently I'm not needed here
anymore. I'll go back to continue analyzing the data while you figure out
what you are doing.." she stated, grabbing up her PADD. "I will be in the
astrology lab.." She climbed to her feet, storming past the others, the lack
of sleep clearly removing any sort of fuse she had, and setting her on edge.

"Lieutenant!" Vilqa said in a calm voice, "While this meeting is informal. I
do not recall dismissing you." She then added before the woman was beyond
the point of hearing. The part klingon would however hold any reprimands
that may or may not follow until later. "If you have anything to add, then
add it. But do not test the Commander's nor my patience." She said in a more
firm voice; of course it was more Vilqa's than Toby's that had to be
watched. Until now Nix was probably the only person in this room she had not
confronted to 'make herself clear' as it were to date, however there was
still pleanty of time for that to happen. ((Muahahahah!!))

Kylee spun about, a fire flashing in her eyes. "You all seem to have
everything figured out, so.. I will go back to being understaffed and
overworked because of this situation. I've had crew that do not show, so I'm
forced to work double shifts going over all the data coming in.. I haven't
slept more than ten hours in the last few days.. and when I give an idea..
it seems to be ignored by most here.." she said, her own temper building,
and probably just as bad as the captain's, though she kept her tone calm.
"So.. I would prefer.. with the hours I am conscious.. to spend them going
over this new data.. If that is okay with you, ma'am."

"Toby continue here," she ordered her Number One as she stepped away and
motioned with Nix to follow her into the lab the woman was going into and
not until the door closed and sealed them in there did the Captain speak.
