Kylee moved about her office, searching for the data she needed about the
asteroid field, including both the data from the probes, and that from
previous records. Digging through a collection of PADDs, she uncovered the
one that contained the past records. She let a sigh as she grabbed the PADD
containing the info from the probe, lift a hand up to push a strand of hair
back from her face. She took a seat behind her desk, tapping the screen on
her computer to pull up a map of the asteroid field. Moving that to her
PADD, she climbed to her feet once more.
"Time to see if I can head to study the asteroids.." she stated, exiting her
office and continuing down the hallway. She tapped her comm badge as she
walked, wanting to determine where the captain and commander were, though
she assumed they were on the bridge. "Captain, where can I find you and
Commander Blake?" she asked.
Vilqa was waiting eagerly along with Blake for information on the away team;
no news wasn't always good news as in this case she was on pins and needles
like a mother waiting for the child who was late for curfew. She would wait
however to get comms. There was a time in her head, and that was 2 hours
from departure that she's get the vessel to comm down and but not before
then. There were no warnings or true cause for alarm from the Vimy Ridge's
own monitoring of the situation and yet still there was a feeling of unease.
The Captain was actually grateful for the interruption from Nix's comm,
"Lieutenant." she replied calmly, defying her emotions, "We are both on the
bridge however if this is about what you approached me in the shuttle bay
meet us in my ready room in ten minutes."

Kylee nodded as she walks through the hallway to the turbo lift. "Yes
captain.. I will see you two there in ten minutes," she said. She glanced
down at her notes for a second time, making sure she had all the data as she
paused before the turbo lift doors. Unlike the captain, she wasn't worried
about the shuttle, because she knew that many of the best were on the ship,
and they would make it safely to the planet. She chuckled softly as she
thought about Takis, sure he was extermely excited to be on such a mission.
As the turbolift doors opened, she stepped within, waiting for the short
ride up to the correct deck to end.

Vilqa glanced toward Toby, "Let's see what she has to say." Standing up the
Captain actually felt her knee pop but continued forward only muttered a
curse word or two loud enough for her to hear. Passing the whooshing doors
of her familiar office she glanced toward the replicator, "Want anything?"
For herself she got a sweetened chai.

Toby followed K`y into her ready room, the perfect fatherly match to her
motherly worry about the away team. "Coffee please." He looked around the
room then at K`y, "They'll be alright. Marcus, Cait and Justin are all quite
competent." His words were for both of them.
Kylee stepped out of the turbolift a short time later. Taking a deep breath,
she walked forward, making her way to the captain's ready room. She pushed
the chime, letting the captain know she was there, assuming it would be wise
to show respect to make up for the incident in the science lab.

The Captain had just handed Toby his coffee as the chime rang, "Enter." It
was of course the spitfire of a science department head. The pair had split
hairs before but there was no time to dwell on that; the captain felt that
she had made herself clear the previous time they had a formal talk. Taking
a seat in her chair behind the desk she motioned for Toby to get comfortable
on the choices of chair or small sofa in the room.

Toby took the coffee with a soft murmur of thanks and moved to sit on the
couch, sipping from his cup, as he sat back and stretched out his long legs,
taking a casual pose. Not too coincidentally, making sure that Kylee would
be between the two of them meaning she would have to split her attention if
she wanted to be polite, or would allow him to watch her unobserved as she
spoke with the captain.

Kylee stepped in to the room, the doors making a soft whoosh as they close
behind her. She nods to both the captain and the commander as she takes a
position that allowed her to look at them both. "Captain, I was hoping to
discuss my wish to venture out to the asteroids to try and find any clues as
to who is sending them at the sun," looking from her to Toby. "I've brought
the notes of all the data I've gathered, showing how the composition of the
iron matches that of the asteroids, as well as a few points that I have
selected where the asteroids could be coming from."

Vilqa nodded, "Tell us Lieutenant..." She could have read the information
however it would be far easier to get a overview verbally that she could
followup afterward by reading the more detailed report. Her hands clasped
together, elbows on the arm rest of her chair and chin leaning to rest on
her knuckles.

Sitting quietly, Toby sipped his coffee and waited to hear what the
scientist had to say. He knew of the clash between the two earlier, of
course, and could sense Kylee's concern over it, but since there wasn't any
overwhelming fear or nervousness he chose to remain quiet than to reassure
her. She'd soon learn that while K`y had a temper and didn't like being
challenged, that she didn't hold a grudge once the matter was settled. If
that were the case, she'd never had asked Toby to be her executive officer.

Kylee nodded, pulling up the correct data in her PADD. She offered the
diagram to K`y to look at as she spoke. "If you look on the layout of the
asteroid field, you'll note that several areas are farmed by both planets
for the different ores in the asteroids, therefore limiting the amount of
areas where smaller asteroids can still be found. From the info sent by the
probe, there are three such areas, within 50 to 100 km of each other," she
explained, looking between the two of them. She tapped her other PADD,
pulling up the info on the iron composition and offered it to Toby. "On
here, you'll note the iron within the asteroids are paired with multiple
other elements, and that the breakdown of those elements from the sun match
to a simulation I performed with a test asteroid."

"And do you believe the only true way to run the tests necessary to
determine

this is by going out via shuttle?" The captain looked toward Nix with a
questioning gaze, "There are no probes that can do the job for you?" The
captain knew she had to cross off and over every possiblity,

"After all, Lieutenant, if you are out there in a shuttle by yourself, and
find something someone doesn't want you to, you'd be pretty much a sitting
duck, as the saying goes. We don't want to put you in a situation of
unnecessary risk." Toby's voice was calm, soft, and gentle one might even
say concerned for her physical well being.

Kylee bit back her initial response to Toby's words, her Klingon heritage
pulling her towards performing the more risky situations. "I believe that
the only way to properly locate the exact location is to go out there and
search for any signs that the probe may be unable to run, due to the effects
from the flares as well as the area itself, which the shuttle, with access
to more power, may be able to detect," she said, trying to word it so that
she would be allowed to go, since she was going a bit stir crazy on board
the ship, wanting to test this theory in person, not stuck staring at more
data.

A brief glance toward Toby pulled the Captain's attention away from Nix for
a few moments. "Have you spoken with the security on the matter of possible
dangers you may be facing not of the natural kind of the flares?"
